On Monday, Sept. 23, climate activists from across Vermont coordinated to string banners across almost every one of Vermont's interstate overpasses. Thetford Climate Alliance activists were among them, showing up at the Quail John Road and Route 113 overpasses during the morning rush hour.
Our banner displays at the two Thetford overpasses were an unqualified success. Two banners went up at the Quail John Road overpass, one in each direction, shortly after 7:00 am and stayed up until we removed them at 9:30. The two banners at the Rt 113 overpass were up from 7:00 until 10:00.
Thirteen people from Thetford stood with the banners that carried the messages "Earth is Burning!" and "Climate Action NOW!"
The Thetford banner display was part of a coordinated state-wide climate strike action that saw simultaneous banner drops on almost every one of Vermont's 60-plus interstate overpasses, involving over 100 banners. It was covered in the Burlington Free Press and on WCAX.
